Hey John, glad you found the blog! When we went to Chicago, we stayed with friends in Indiana so cant really recommend anything there. However, we have found that the KOAs are by and large, a very good chain of campgrounds so we stay at those quite frequently. We stayed at 7 or 8 of them so far and they were all really good, although more expensive ($40-50/night) than other campgrounds. We checked the reviews for them online, even though sometimes those are skewed and filled out by owners or paid reviewers. Let us know any way we can help you. Thanks for the comment!

We are doing the same thing and are headed into Chicago. Two questions: where did you stay; and where did you park? We are heading west to east and have found cities to be a challenge.

Glad you were able to conquer your fears. Great photos at The “What you talking about Willis” Tower. Classic.
